About the Club: Leadership

Pace Bootlegger was founded by Cal Wickens (Coaching Coordinator) who has been the driving force behind boys volleyball in Rochester, NY for almost 3 decades. Cal's coaching experience is extensive, illustrating his commitment to volleyball education:

• West Los Angeles, California University High School - 1974
• Co-Developed Rochester Volleyball Club - 1979
• Head Coach/Director Pace Bootlegger and VolleyFX Volleyball Clubs - 1979-Present
• Coached 1988,89,91,92 Boy's AAU National Runner-up Teams
• 1990 Boy's AAU National Champion, Chicago, Ill.
• 1999 Boy's USA 18-U National Runner-up, New Orleans, La.
• 2000 Men's USA AA National Champions, Columbus, Ohio
• Try-Out Coach USA High Performance Try-Outs 1991-2000
• 2011 Division III AVCA Coach of the Year
• Lead Nazareth College Men's Volleyball Team- 2011 DIII National Champions

The Board of Directors consists of a Club Director, Treasurer, Coaching Coordinator, Tournament Coordinator, Travel Coordinator, Head Parent Rep, coaches and several parent representatives. The Board of Directors handle the affairs and direction of Pace Bootlegger. In addition, teams have parent support groups that assist with fundraising, budgeting, travel arrangements and chaperoning. Parent commitment and support are essential to the overall foundation of the club. Parents are encouraged to travel and participate as much as possible.

Each team has a dedicated coach or coaches, who determine who will play and in what positions. Our coaching staff is comprised of volunteers who love the sport of volleyball. Most have played at the collegiate level and some professionally. Others currently coach college and high school teams. They are all committed to the training, safety and development of your son.
